Central Michigan University Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble

Central Michigan University’s Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble was created in the early 1990’s as both an educational tool and performance opportunity for the students of the university. Though consisting mainly of music majors, the ensemble is open to anybody in the university community. CMU began as an education university, a philosophy still at the core of both the university and the School of Music. At the same time, regardless of major (Music Education, Performance, Composition, etc.), each student is treated primarily as a performing musician who specializes in one of these fields. As a result, performance standards are high, and students maintain a rigorous schedule. Performances, lectures, coaching, conducting, public speaking, and off-campus performances are all a major part of the Central Michigan University’s tuba and euphonium students' experience.
