Mark CoxMark Cox, professor of tuba and euphonium at Central Michigan University, holds the bachelor of music and doctor of musical arts degrees in performance from the Eastman School of Music, and a master of music degree in performance from Northwestern University. While attending the Eastman School of Music, he received the prestigious performer's certificate. Dr. Cox has performed with numerous professional organizations, including the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra (NY), Midland (MI), Syracuse Symphony (NY), New World Symphony Orchestra (FL) and the Chicago Civic Orchestra. He has held faculty positions at the Eastman School of Music; State University of New York at Geneseo; and Nazareth College (Rochester, NY). In the summer, he has held the position of tuba and euphonium instructor at the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp and the New England Music Camp. Dr. Cox is the Music Coordinator and web designer for the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Solo Competition. Recordings on which Dr. Cox can be heard include Carnaval with Wynton Marsalis (CBS Masterworks); Pied Piper Fantasy with James Galway (Sony); and Live in Osaka with the Eastman Wind Ensemble (Sony), just to name a few. His former students have won the Yamaha Young Artists Competition; placed in the artist division of the Leonard Falcone International Solo Competition; are members of major performing ensembles throughout the United States.
