Ronald DavisRONALD DAVIS is Professor of Tuba and Euphonium and Coordinator of the Brass Teaching Division at the University of South Carolina School of Music, and principal tubist with the South Carolina Philharmonic Orchestra. Dr. Davis earned a DMA in Tuba Performance from the University of Southern California, and also holds degrees from California State University--Fullerton and Bowling Green State University. His principal teachers were Jim Self, Tommy Johnson, Ivan Hammond, Roger Bobo and Ronald Bishop. Dr. Davis was a founding member of the Tubadours at Disneyland in California and was with the group for their historic win on television's "The Gong Show". He was principal tubist in the Santa Barbara Symphony for five seasons. Before relocating to South Carolina he served a one-year appointment as Visiting Assistant Professor of Tuba/Euphonium and Band at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Dr. Davis is author of the discography chapters in both editions of The Tuba Source Book, a regular contributor of reviews and articles to the ITEA Journal, and featured soloist on SoloPro: Contest Music for Tuba released by Summit Records. |
