Gretchen RenshawGretchen Renshaw has recently completed Bachelor of Music degrees in Tuba and Euphonium Performance at The Pennsylvania State University where she studied with Velvet Brown. In addition to great success in Penn State School of Music competitions, Gretchen has participated in several national and international competitions. On the euphonium, she was the National First Place Winner of the 2009 Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Brass Competition. In addition, she has been a semifinalist in the Euphonium Artist divisions of the ITEC and Falcone Competitions and a 2nd Place winner in the Euphonium Student division of the Falcone Competition. Gretchen has also traveled overseas to study in England with Steven Mead and participate in music festivals in Austria. For her research on Simone Mantia, Gretchen was awarded a Penn State Summer Discovery Grant. This research has led to ongoing collaborations with Steven Mead to begin taking advantage of the numerous resources found in The Simone Mantia Collection. |
