David SaltzmanDavid Saltzman has been the Principal Tuba player of the Toledo Symphony and the Tuba/Euphonium instructor at Bowling Green State University since 2007. He is the director of the Bowling Green State University Tuba/Euphonium ensemble. Between 1997 and 2007 David had been the Principal Tuba player for the Honolulu Symphony and the Honolulu Brass Quintet. He was also the Tuba/Euphonium instructor at the University of Hawaii, Manoa campus, and the founder and director of their Tuba/Euphonium ensemble. David has performed with several orchestras throughout the United States including the Cleveland Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony, the Cincinnati Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony, the Indianapolis Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, and the Alabama Symphony. He has been recorded with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra playing second tuba on both Richard Strauss’s Eine Alpensinfonie and Hector Berlioz’s Symphony Fantastique. He holds an undergraduate degree from Indiana University and a Master’s Degree from the Peabody Conservatory. David is a student of Harvey Phillips, Dan Perantoni, Fritz Kaenzig, Toby Hanks and David Fedderly. David was the winner of the Colonial Euphonium Tuba Quartet's first Tuba Solo Competition in Albany, New York in 1996. He has performed as a featured soloist throughout the mainland United States and Europe. |
