Kevin SteesKevin Stees is currently the Professor of Tuba and Euphonium at James Madison University and has been on the faculty since 1985. While a student, he had the pleasure of working with many outstanding tuba artists including Daniel Perantoni (Indiana University), Charles Daellenbach (Canadian Brass) and Jack Tilbury (U.S. Army Brass Quintet). Kevin has presented solo and chamber music performances at universities, conferences, music festivals and workshops throughout the United States, including the U.S. Army Band Tuba-Euphonium Conference, Southeastern Tuba-Euphonium Conference, Southeast Regional Tuba-Euphonium Conference, International Tuba-Euphonium Conferences and the Keystone Brass Institute. In addition to his duties with the tuba-euphonium studio, he also directs the award winning and internationally recognized James Madison University Brass Band. The band has performed on tour in England and Wales, including a concert at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama with the European Champion Cory Band. The ensemble has been host to numerous soloists including low brass artists Steven Mead, Katrina Marzella and Les Neish. In addition to performances with the JMU Brass Band, Kevin also directs the Massanutten Brass Band and performs with the Madison Brass (quintet-in-residence at James Madison University), the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival Orchestra and the Wintergreen Music Festival Orchestra. |
