ITEA Chapters
Deanna Swoboda, Membership Coordinator

A regional chapter can be an extremely important and useful means of coordinating the efforts of individual ITEA members so that they may realize their common goals. Included on this web page are Suggested Activities for Regional Chapters and Chapter Guidelines. A pdf document is provided containing these items as well as a ITEA Chapter Application Form and Sample By-Laws for your chapter. These are suggestions for your consideration and are included simply as examples of the varied ways that some individual chapters have successfully established themselves.

Chapters, please send your activities to Deanna Swoboda.

Just follow these 4 easy steps to establish your regional ITEA chapter:

1. Print, fill out and return the ITEA Regional Chapter Application with a check or money order for $25.00 (one time chapter application fee as long as the chapter remains active every year), payable to ITEA.
2. Secure the services of a contact person or sponsor who will serve as a liaison between your local chapter and the parent organization of ITEA. For example, if you are forming a University Chapter your contact person could be your studio teacher.
3. All chapter members must be members in good standing of ITEA (everyone must be a member).
4. Each fall, send to the ITEA Regional Coordinator, a list of your officers, members, and, if possible, photos and projected activities for inclusion on the ITEA Online Chapters page. Additional photos and announcements may be submitted throughout the year.

Upon receipt of your completed application and check for $25.00, you will be sent your chapter's official certificate, which serves as acknowledgment of your chapter's organization.

If I may be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me. On behalf of the International Tuba-Euphonium Association, we wish you much success.

Chapter Guidelines

Suggested Procedure for Establishing a Local Chapter

1.   Meet with other tubists and euphoniumists in your area to determine the level of interest, the number of potential members, and the scope and direction of your chapter (school, college, community, area, etc.).

2.   Secure the services of a contact person or sponsor who is an active member of ITEA.   In school or college situations, a faculty member is suggested, but any ITEA member can function in this capacity.

3.   Find a time for all to meet to discuss the need and desirability for a local chapter. Discuss the possible types of activities your chapter may wish to engage in.

4.   Complete and return to the Treasurer of ITEA the "ITEA Regional Chapter Application" with a check or money order payable to ITEA.   Find fee information and ITEA address on the Chapter application.   The regional chapter fee is a one-time fee, unless the chapter lapses for a period of one year or longer.

5.Upon receipt of the chapter certificate, the members should meet to adopt by-laws, elect officers, and begin to develop the program of activities of the chapter.

6. The Chapter shall elect officers and ITEA liaison at the first regular meeting following July 1 each year.

7. In the fall of each year, the chapter shall submit an annual report to the Regional Chapter Coordinator, listing officers, liaison, and projected activities and photo if available.   Photos should be submitted as jpeg files for inclusion in the chapters page at the ITEA website, iteaonline.org.
