ITEA Journal Volume 31 Number 4 Summer 2004 ITEA Gem Series #4 Barton Cummings enjoys a distinguished international musical career. Recognized as an author, composer, conductor, educator, and performing artist, he has pursued these activities successfully for more than forty years. His consistent and scholarly writing have produced three books, more than four hundred articles, scores of reviews, and several editorship positions. His work is constantly cited in articles, books, and dissertations by other authors.
Mr. Cummings has provided the following notes regarding this work: “The Little Suite No. 3 for Solo Tuba is the third in an ongoing series that was begun a few years ago. At that time I was asked by a publisher to contribute a piece for solo saxophone, my choice of which one, having four movements and not any longer than six minutes in length. That commission led to the Little Suite No. 1 for Solo Alto Saxophone, and, later, the Little Suite No. 2 for Solo Piccolo was added to the list. Currently a Little Suite No.4 for Solo Euphonium is in progress.”
