Association proposes amendments to
the Association’s Constitution which
would create an Executive Director
position in place of the Treasurer
position. Please read the proposals on
your Officer Election Ballot, and please
vote on these very important
amendments.
In response to growing scope and
responsibilities of the International
Tuba-Euphonium Association, the
Executive Committee of the
International Tuba-Euphonium
Association proposes amendments
to the Association’s Constitution
replacing the position of Treasurer
with that of Executive Director. The
Executive Director will report
directly to the Executive Committee
and will provide support for all
aspects of the Association, thus
assuring ongoing continuity and
consistent efforts toward reaching
organizational goals.

Job Description
The Executive Director of the International Tuba-Euphonium Association is appointed by, works with, and reports to the Executive Committee. The Executive Director shall
manage all financial and membership records, oversee management of Tuba-Euphonium
Press, implement strategies to achieve organizational goals, coordinate Journal
advertising, and other duties as appropriate and assigned to the position.
The Executive Director is expected to be inspiringly energetic, show sustained and
visible commitment to ITEA and its mission, and excite others around that mission and
its supporting goals and strategies. He/she must see both service to membership and
financial soundness as essential parts of organizational philosophy. The Director must
actively and easily build rapport and trust with others, use multiple approaches to engage members in the many aspects and activities of the organization, and develop and
maintain relationships with members, peers, industry leaders, and funding sources.
Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate will possess the following professional and personal qualities:
• A minimum of 3 years leadership experience in the nonprofit, private and/or public sectors.
• Management experience with knowledge of best practices in financial and business management, nonprofit fundraising, public relations and marketing.
• Experience in planning, developing and implementing programs.
• Successful experience in financial management, including financial planning, preparing, reading and analyzing financial statements, and developing/managing budgets.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Access or similar database program for management of membership records.
• Good deductive reasoning and problem-solving skills with computer equipment and programs.
• Tenacity, attention to detail, and ability to plan, implement and complete projects.
• Takes great pleasure in making sure data is accurate and that membership and mailing queries function properly and accurately.
• Demonstrates success in fundraising and building alternate revenue streams.
• Experience with e-communication as a marketing and capacity building strategy.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong sense of honesty and integrity.
• Bachelor degree or higher.
Time and Remuneration
The Executive Director position is expected to require 20 hours per week year-round.
Hourly compensation for all appointed staff is set by the Executive Committee. Contact
