Why Make a Gift to ITEA

Your Gift to ITEA Is Important

Your giving to ITEA allows us to go beyond the vitally important work of connecting with each other and supporting euphonium and tuba music. With a little effort and your financial support, we can advance our this music and even change lives.

Just listen to what ITEA means to some of your fellow members:

"I think those of us who take a significant interest in the tuba should devote some amount of time or affordable gifts to that organization which helps give us a bond with others who have the same interests. While I would enjoy being able to devote more time to writing articles, interviewing fascinating musicians who happen to play the tuba, and giving more time to the organization, I find it very difficult to do so with my schedule. For those of us who find ourselves in that same predicament and cannot give in terms of more time or in other ways, see if you cannot contribute to this worthy cause."

"I am a proud member of ITEA. So much has happened in the tuba/euphonium world in the last 40 years. Much of that progress is due to the hard work and creative energy provided by ITEA members and staff. The Journal alone has brought us together and the conferences have been a place where many talented professional and student players got their first chances to play. Much of the explosion in tuba/euphonium literature was generated and premiered by ITEA members. Those of us who have had good careers as teachers, symphony players, military players, or in any career, owe a debt to ITEA. We need to give back. I urge everyone to contribute to ITEA with money, time, scholarly projects, commissions, performances, and (at the very least) a paid membership in the organization. A little goes a long way to insure that the next 40 years will bring great things too."

I've been an ITEA member since 1987, my freshman year in college. And now (24 years later), I have the great privilege of serving as your ITEA president. ITEA has provided me the opportunity to read about and connect with world class musicians in our field. It has helped our industry and our teaching grow. As Harvey Phillips said, "We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us." In order to do so, I am giving back, to continue our efforts to educate, collaborate, and promote growth. Your involvement is critical! It's time to roll up our sleeves and push forward. With your financial support above and beyond your membership dues, we will continue the long-standing traditions of the organization and continue to grow for all tuba and euphonium players.

I was a charter member of TUBA as a college student in 1973. Since that time, this organization, which we now know as ITEA, has provided a way for me to make friends all over the world from all kinds of backgrounds, young and old, with whom I share interests both musical and non-musical. ITEA is a second family for me, and it continues to expand. Supporting “family” is important to me. That’s why I became a Life Member of the Association long ago and why I continue to support my favorite ITEA projects as I’m able to do so.  The “interest” I get on my “investment” in ITEA is the satisfaction I get from these relationships built over many years and the programs that serve the entire membership. I see the result of my contributions every time I open the web page, hold a journal, or see the names of award winners. I hope you’ll find a way to join me in participating in our giving program.
