Bob Stewart Tuba Competition
The Annual Bob Stewart Tuba Competition provides exposure to the many dynamic tuba players working in improvisational music ensembles. The Competition accepts tuba-led groups that explore genres including the Blues and traditional and contemporary Jazz.

BLAST OF BRASS is a summer chamber music program for brass students in Middle School, High School, and College, which will be held July 8 – 14, 2012. Our Featured Artist is Thomas Hooten, principal trumpet of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. Guest Artists include John Kitzman, principal trombone of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Tuba & Euphonium Quartet of the Dallas Wind Symphony, the Dallas Horn Octet, and the BLAST OF BRASS Ensemble. Classes include a daily warm-up, large and small ensembles, individual instrument choirs, master classes, recitals, intro to jazz improvisation, and an orchestra excerpt class. Pokorny Low Brass Seminar
The Gene Pokorny Low Brass Seminar at the University of Redlands will expand this year to include the entire low brass section!! Randall Hawes, bass trombonist with the Detroit Symphony will join Gene Pokorny, tubist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for a week long seminar at the University of Redlands. This year the seminar will be held June 29 through July 3rd. We are accepting applications for performers and auditors on tuba, tenor and bass trombone and entire low brass sections. The number of performers is limited. This is a fantastic opportunity to spend quality time with excellent musicians and find new inspiration.

The mission of the Cosmopolitan Tuba Euphonium Workshop is to enhance the skill level of individuals that play the tuba or euphonium - based on their level at the beginning of the current session - in a non-competitive, structured, fun and educational environment. Participants are comprised of high school students, college students, adults and select middle school students (entering the 9th grade). This mixture represents many different levels of performance, experience and backgrounds.
