ITEC 2014 Bloomington, Indiana

ITEC 2014 will be held at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music beginning with our on competitions May 17 and and officially on the afternoon of May 19 and concluding on Saturday, May 24. Indiana University has one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. Bloomington, Indiana is one of the most exciting towns in the United States. With its excellent live music scene, vibrant nightlife, and fantastic variety of restaurants and shops, a good time is sure to be had by all!

First of all, credit must be given for a fantastic international conference we experienced in Linz, Austria in 2012. Steve Mead deserves praise for creating such a rich and vibrant program. Congratulations to all those involved! The Jacobs School of Music is truly honored to host the 2014 International Tuba Euphonium Conference. It is with great pleasure that I invite you to come to Bloomington, Indiana and share the excitement featuring the best in our profession. The theme of the 2014 ITEC is “Where It All Began” over 40 years ago at Indiana University.

ITEC 2014 will encompass six days of concerts, recitals, lectures, panel discussions, competitions, and master classes by the world’s foremost classical and jazz tuba and euphonium artists. An extensive exhibit of instruments, mouthpieces, mutes, music, and recordings will also be available during the conference. These conferences have provided us an opportunity to showcase great artists and ensembles, present master classes, lectures, and panel discussions by well-known teachers and performers, hold outstanding student competitions, and experience the latest trends from our music industry.

Planning is well underway for the 2014 ITEC and the first task is choosing performers and presenters. All performers are asked to submit a proposal online via the ITEA website http://www.iteaonline.org/conferences/ ITEC2014/. These proposals will be evaluated by the conference steering committee that will choose the performers and presenters. We will try to include as many of your proposals as possible.

Check the ITEA website regularly as all the competition information, featured artists, hotel and dorm information, etc., will be posted in the near future. I am looking forward to being your host for one of the best ITECs ever!
