1/30-2/2 U.S. Army Band 25th Annual Tuba-Euphonium Conference
The U.S. Army Band is proud to announce the 25th Annual Tuba-Euphonium Conference. The Conference features concerts, recitals, exhibits, master classes and lectures by leading low brass authorities from around the world.

The 2008 Conference will open on Wednesday, January 30 and close Saturday, February 2. Events on all four days are free and open to the public. No tickets or reservations are required for the events. There is no registration fee and any tuba or euphonium player is invited to bring his/her horn for reading sessions. Military musicians are invited to perform with the Armed Forces Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble.

The Conference will take place at Brucker Hall on historic Fort Myer, Virginia. Fort Myer is located across the Potomac River from Washington, DC, and is accessible by Interstates 395 and 66 and by U.S. Route 50.

The International Instrumental Competition Markneukirchen is held in a world famous centre of the making of musical instruments. Musical instruments have been built in high quality in the "Musikwinkel" for 350 years. The competition has its roots in this long and living condition.

The competition started with the modest beginning of a violin contest from 1950 to 1956. The competition has developed to a performance of international meaning and in 1993 it was admitted to the "WORLD FEDERATION OF INTERNATIONAL MUSIC COMPETITIONS."

The UNB Centre for Musical Arts is hosting its 5th Annual Tuba-Euphonium workshop. Quest clinicians this year are Sotto Voce-- an internationally recognized tuba/euphonium quartet from the United States. Join players from the Maritime Provinces, Quebec and New England states for a weekend of clinics and performances of music written for low brass ensembles.

The workshop is open to players of all ages and levels of ability. There will be a public concert Saturday night featuring all players and clinicians. The event will be on the University of New Brunswick Campus in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada.
