Unanimously awarded First prize for Tuba at the CNSM of Lyon (Melvin Culbertson's class), Fabien Wallerand has been a finalist of the International Guebwiller Competition . Since 2002, he has been a guest of the Orchestre de Paris, Orchestre National de France, Orchestre National de Lyon, Orchestre National Bordeaux Aquitaine, Orchestre National de Toulouse, Ensemble Intercontemporain, and Orchestre de Lausanne. In 1999 he was admitted as the solo tuba player with the International Youth Academy orchestra « Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival », conducted by Mstislav Rostropovich and Christoph Eschenbach. Permanently invited member of the Orchestre National de l'Opera de Lyon from 2000 to 2004, he also performs in concerts all over Europe and throughout the world (China, Japan, USA, Mayotte, New Caledonia, Venezuela,Colombia ...). Since 2005, he has been giving masterclasses in several international brass festivals (Colombia,Venezuela, Japan, Italy, Spain). Since 2004, Fabien Wallerand is Tuba Solo at the « Orchestre de l'Opera National de Paris » , member of the Paris Opera Brass Quintet, since 2013 teacher at « Conservatoire du 13ème arrondissement de Paris and since 2014 member of the Belgian Brass.
