Leonard Falcone Competitor Registration

Dr. Leonard Falcone was a pioneering exponent of the Baritone, Euphonium and a longtime professor at Michigan State University. The Falcone Festival was founded by several of his former students in 1986, the year after his death, to honor his memory. Held annually, the festival includes 4 divisions of solo competitions for euphonium and tuba that are internationally recognized and highly competitive. The Festival provides a continuing testimony to the profound influence of Dr. Falcone upon the lives of his students and the extraordinary level of artistry he achieved throughout his career.

The Falcone Festival is held each summer over a four day period at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, Twin Lake, Michigan. This is our 32nd year and our guest artist will be guest artists will be Gail Robertson (euphonium) and Stacy Baker (tuba) who also collaborate as SymbiosisDuo. The 2017 Festival dates are August 11-14, 2017. For the selected semi-finalists, the Festival begins with an Orientation Meeting at 3:00 on Friday, August 11. The unaccompanied round is Saturday morning. The accompanied round occurs Sunday morning, with finalists announced at the luncheon. Finals are Monday afternoon for student divisions and Monday evening for artist divisions.

Information regarding Competitor Registration, please read carefully:

Recordings:
• Recordings will be sent to judges ANONYMOUSLY! Your audio recording must contain no spoken words or have any identifying information (e.g. NO NAMES OF INDIVIDUALS, SCHOOLS OR TEACHERS) in the file title or in the metadata.
• Submit ONE (1) MP3 format file, and for multiple works ONLY in the order specified in the required music listing. Filesize is limited to 15 MB (no exceptions).

Student Division Applicant Proof of Age Documentation:
• For the 2017 Festival, a participant who will be 20 years old or older on December 1, 2017, is NOT ELIGIBLE to apply in either student division.
• Student division contestants who have not submitted proof of age may not be allowed to compete. Acceptable proof includes a scanned copy of a birth certificate, passport photo page, or driver’s license.
• Filesize is limited to 500 KB (no exceptions).
